Pongal was celebrated with traditional fervour at Velammal shools.
Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair East celebrated Maha Pongal Utsav 2018 today. Actress-director Akshaya attended the event.
The tiny tots experienced and enjoyed the important rituals and the scientific reasons associated with this harvest festival.
The mela had a mega pot exhibit, Giant Wheel ride and various forms of folk dance like Silambattam, Kavadiattam, Mayilattam, Oyilattam Garagattam, Puliattam were performed by the students.
A healthy millet feast was a part of the carnival. About 200 people visited and enjoyed the Maha Pongal Utsav.
At Velammal Bodhi Campus in Kolapakkam, the second skill day was celebrated recently. Traditional Kuchipidi dancer Jayapriya Vikraman and whisting queen of honour Swetha Suresh were the chief guests.
Super singer fame Sai Vignesh and others were present. The programme was focussed to exhbit different skills present in students from classes one to five.
