Bus strike echoes in Assembly, Stalin & TTV speak, CM's appeal to workers

Transport workers in Tamil Nadu struck work for the seventh day today, and the issue echoed in the state Assembly on Tuesday.

Leader of opposition M K Stalin and RK Nagar legislator TTV Dhinakaran on Tuesday urged the AIADMK government in the state to take steps to resolve the ongoing transport strike at the earliest.

Speaking in the Assembly, Dhinakaran said the K Palaniswami-led state government should prove that it was "Amma's regime" by fulfilling the demands of the employees.

Meanwhile, the chief minister has appealed to the protesting workers in the state Assembly to accept the proposal and call off the stir.

He also asked Stalin to hold talks with the protesting trade unions, as they are backed by the opposition parties.

Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government asked them to report to work on Tuesday or face strict action.

Meanwhile, in a relief to Dhinakaran, the Madras High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition that the Election Commission of India (ECI) be directed to suspend the result of the RK Nagar by- poll that concluded last month, and held that the courts could not do so once it was declared.
