Rahman celebrates birthday, breaks silence on politics & more

A R Rahman, the Oscar-Grammy winning music composer, is celebrating his birthday today. Wishes are pouring in on him from various quarters.

As he celebrates 25 years in the industry, he has brought to Chennai, his Netru Indru Naalai concert which will be held next weekend, at the YMCA grounds.

"It's very nice to come back here and perform because this is where everything started. You know, I was following bands before. I used to be a roadie, taking equipment to IIT and other college cultural fests (laughs). So, there's a kind of nostalgia attached to it. It's wonderful," he says.

Rahman congratulated Superstar Rajinikanth on his political entry and vouched for a strong leadership in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking at a press meet to announce his upcoming concert in Chennai, 7Up's 'Netru Indru Naalai", the maestro sounded positive about the new development in politics into which Rajini promises to bring a touch of spiritualism.

"I saw YouTube videos of his speech and believe that he means good, when he speaks about spiritual politics", the music director said.

When asked about whether he would support Rajinikanth, he said that a decision would be taken at the appropriate moment.
