AIADMK general council meeting; TTV teams warns office-bearers, moves HC

AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran’s group, besides issuing a warning to party office-bearers, has also rushed to Madras high court seeking direction to halt a proposed general council meeting of AIADMK by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisami and Deputy Chief Minister O .Panneerselvam in Chennai on September 12



Senior advocate T V Ramajayam submitted before the court of Justice C V Karthikeyan that the petition in this regard should be taken up for hearing. The judge had agreed to hear it on Monday.



According to the AIADMK bylaw 5 (vii) "Members shall have no right to resort to court proceedings regarding party matters. If any member of the party resorts to any court proceedings against the party general secretary’s decision he/she shall cease to be a primary member of the party."



In a statement on September 1, Dhinakaran had said that his faction will be taking legal action against the General Council meeting initiated by Palaniswami and Panneerselvam.



He also stated that there was no clarification on the agenda of the meeting and had asked party functionaries and MLAs not to attend the meeting.



Friday’s petition comes a day after Dhinakaran had met with Governor Vidyasagar Rao demanding that CM EPS prove his majority in the House.



Meanwhile, Dhinakaran on Friday announced cancellation of an anti-NEET protest by his faction's students wing herem, on Friday, in view of a Supreme Court directive on the matter.
