Nadigar Sangam encroached public road?

A PIL has been filed in the Madras high court for a direction to various agencies of the State government not to permit the Nadigar Sangam Charitable Trust and the South Indian Artistes Association on Dr Narasimhan Street in T Nagar to encroach upon a 33-feet wide road from Habibullah Road to Vidyodaya First Cross Road.

The Madras high court on Thursday issued notices to the South India Artistes Association (Nadigar Sangam) and the Greater Chennai Corporation, based on the plea that the association is constructing a building by encroaching a public road.

The Sangam's Preisdent Nasser said that the allegation was false and proper approvals were received from the CMDA and Chennai Corporation for the construction of the building.

"Why are you encroaching public roads? Don't you have money?" the Judges asked the actor's body

The Nadigar Sangam and the two Government authorities are expected to file their reply today.

The foundation stone to the Nadigar Sangam building was laid on March 31, with superstar Rajinikanth and actor Kamal Haasan participating in the ceremony.

During the event, actor and Nadigar Sangam General Secretary Vishal had declared that the construction work for the building will be completed in September 2018.
