Don't depict my dad as don: Haji Mastan's son writes to Rajini

Sunder Shekhar who claims to be an adopted son of Haji Mastan had written a threatening letter to Superstar Rajinikanth for making a feature film on the late 'underworld don'.

Haji Mastan was a Tamil don, a smuggler, film financier and real estate businessman, according to reports. There are speculations that Rajinikanth will play the role of the don, who lived between 1926 and 1994, in his next film with Pa Ranjith.

He was fluent in Tamil, lived in Mumbai and was known for his unique traits of dressing completely in white clothes, wearing white shoes, smoking costly cigarrettes and driving a white mercedes made him a "style icon" among the poor.

It is said Haji Mastan was a people's leader, but more like a don, and lived between 1926 and 1994.

Sundar Shaekhar said in his notice, “I state that you are depicting my God Father and a well-known national political leader as a smuggler and underworld don, which is highly unacceptable and I strongly oppose such misrepresentation of my God Father."

He added that his father was never convicted by any court of law in India in any such case of smuggling or any case related to underworld. “And representing or calling Late Shri Haji Mastan Mirza as ‘smuggler’ and underworld don are highly defamatory,” Sundar wrote.

He further said that it would be apt for Rajnikanth to discuss about the life of Haji Masthan with him.

“I am interested in making a biopic on him as am a producer and a registered life time member of Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association,” he said.
