Rajini to meet Modi?

Tamil Nadu is abuzz with speculation that Superstar Rajinikanth has decided to throw his hat into the political ring. Unconfirmed reports said he would soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

However, Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said he was not aware of any possible meeting between Rajinikanth and Modi.

“Rajinikanth is a great actor. Modi is a great leader. If he wants to meet the Prime Minister, there is no problem,” Naidu told reporters in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday said the party’s doors were open to the star. However, Mr. Shah told a Hindi television channel that it was for Rajinikanth to take a decision on joining the BJP.

In Coimbatore, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan, who had previously criticised the actor for praising DMK leader M K Stalin, said he was ideologically inclined towards the BJP, and if he joined the party, it would add to its strength.

Speaking at an India Today TV event in New Delhi on Sunday, Shah responded to a query on the growing speculation surrounding the superstar's entry into politics.

To a question on whether Rajinikanth will join the BJP, Shah said only the actor has to decide that. "When he has to enter politics, how can I decide that? From our end, every good person is welcome to join politics," he said.
