President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao and other dignitaries will attend the 1000 years Jayanthi Mahotsavam of Sri Ramanujacharya, a great saint who preached equality.
Tamil Nadu Finance Minister D Jayakumar will also participate in the function, which will be held on May 24 at Sri Lakshmi Govindaraju Mahal, TNHB Pallavan Nagar, Kanchipuram.
The event will be held in the presence of Kanchi seers Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Sri Ahobila Math Jeer Sri Ranganatha Yateendra Mahadesikar.
Arrangements have been made by C V Padmanabhan, Chairman, SSS Bharathi and Dr P Srinivas Gopalan, President, SSS Bharathi. On the occasion, a special thematic concert will be held by SSS Bharathi Group. Compositions by Ramanuja, Adisankara, Maha Periyava and Syama Sastry will be rendered.
The President, during his visit to Kanchipuram, will also visit renowned temples- Varadaraja Perumal temple, Kamakshi Amman temple and Ekambaranathar temple- and offer prayers.
The Jayanthi Mahotsavam of Sri Ramanujacharya will be aired live at www.chennaivision.com and www.kanchipuram.in
