Vishal meets CM with list of demands

Office-bearers of Tamil Film Producers Council, South India Artistes Association and Theatre Owners Association on Friday called on Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and urged him take steps to curb piracy.

In the meeting, various issues including permission for building small theaters and eradicate piracy in private buses and cable channels were discussed.

This meet has held two weeks before TFPC’s proposed shut down asking Governments to hike ticket and implement strict rules to curb piracy.

Vishal requested the CM to take action against newly-released films being screened illegally in omni buses and private vehicles.

He also urged Palaniswami to take steps to ensure that cable TV stop airing new films. Vishal also stressed the urgent need to set up small theatres.

“We are formally meeting the Chief Minister and giving him a representation from the industry. Apart from piracy, we will also be asking the government to allow for maximum price of the tickets to be raised and that rates be made flexible. We are hopeful that it will be acted upon. We will take a call after that,” said Vishal.
