Why just meet OPS, not me: Stalin to Modi

DMK working president M K Stalin launched a frontal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not granting him an appointment.

“As the Leader of the Opposition, I convened an all-party meeting to discuss the problems of farmers and sought an appointment with the Prime Minister.

If he is not ready to meet members of an all-party delegation, I am prepared to meet him alone. But we are yet to get an appointment. But he has met a person (Panneerselvam) who holds no position,” said Stalin while inaugurating desilting of the Vadivudaiammal temple tank in Thandalam near Chennai.

Stalin said he was not finding fault with the meeting between Modi and the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in Delhi two days back, but sought to know why he had no time for farmers from the state, who had been staging protest in the national capital for long.

“Everyone is aware of the problems of farmers; 200 of them had committed suicide. But the Prime Minister gave appointment to Panneerselvam, who today is just an MLA. But he is not ready to meet the Leader of the Opposition and farmers, and the critics of the DMK should keep the fact in mind,” he said.

Panneerselvam had met the Prime Minister in New Delhi on May 19 to discuss issues concerning Tamil Nadu, it may be recalled.
