TN ministers refuse to accept Dinakaran leadership

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister and senior AIADMK (Amma) leader D Jayakumar has said party deputy general secretary T T V Dinakaran should stick to his stand of keeping away from party affairs.

Two days after Dinakaran said he would resume active party work, nearly 20 ministers who met under the leadership of Jayakumar on Monday, reiterated that there would be no contact with Dinakaran or his associates.

Reacting to Dinakaran’s assertion that he will continue party work, Jayakumar said it was the party’s unanimous view to hold on to its stand of having no dealings with Dinakaran, party general secretary VK Sasikala and their associates.

“We are firm, and we are clear,” the minister told reporters here. “We have no truck with him, we are not dependent on him.”

He said there was “absolutely no confusion” in the government under Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami. “We are all clear. Our party brothers are also clear,” Jayakumar said, flanked by several Ministers.

Jayakumar added: “We are not depending on them. So, as far as possible we are running the government under Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami without their influence. So, the present focus is only to ensure that this government lasts beyond its term in 2021.”
