It has emerged that Suriya's Thaana Serndha Koottam is loosely based on Akshay Kumar's Special 26, and there will be a whopping number of eight songs in the movie.
"In Thaanaa Serndha Koottam, songs will not affect the flow, as most of them are used as montages and is shot along with the narrative", said sources.
Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander. The star cast includes Keerthy Suresh, Ramya Krishnan, Sivakumar, Senthil and Sathyan.
Special 26, also known as Special Chabbis, is a 2013 Indian heist crime thriller film directed by Neeraj Pandey. It stars Akshay Kumar in the lead protagonist role with Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Jimmy Shergill and Divya Dutta in supporting roles.
The film is inspired by the 1987 Opera House heist where a group posing as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers executed an income tax raid on the jeweler in Mumbai.
Special 26 released on February 5, 2013 to widespread critical acclaim and was regarded as one of the best films of 2013.
