A day after AIADMK leader TTV Dinakaran met aunt and party chief V K Sasikala in Bengaluru jail, more than 20 party MLAs from the Edapaddi Palaniswani (EPS) camp met Dinakaran at his residence on Tuesday.
According to a Sasikala loyalist, VP Kalairajan, as many as 29 MLAs so far met Dinakaran. Kalairajan affirmed that Dinakaran is still the deputy general secretary of AIADMK.
"It's true that Dinakaran stayed out of party affairs. But he was not removed. Nobody except the general secretary has powers to take such decisions," he said.
Meanwhile Palaniswami also met several party legislators on Tuesday. Finance Minister D. Jayakumar said the meeting of MLAs with Dinakaran was a courtesy call and there is no politics in it.
On Monday, he said that his faction, led by Chief Minister Palaniswami, are firm on keeping away from both of them (Sasikala and Dinakaran).
Meanwhile, reports said negotiations had begun between the rival factions led by Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam to work out the modalities for a merger.
