Kamal Haasan's recent comments on Goods and Services Tax (GST) have apparently not gone down well with the top guns of the central government.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has mentioned that the Central government will look everyone’s representation but using media to pressurize us will not work.
Jaitely’s speech only hinted Kamal Haasan and other film stars’ viral statements on how the new Goods and Service Tax (GST) would affect the regional cinema.
Reacting to this, Kamal said, "Not pressurizing. It's a plea and SOS from regional cinema to our FM. We fear it will collapse. We request the council to do all to save it."
Last week, Kamal said the 28 per cent tax will ruin regional cinema. He had said that regional cinema shouldn't be kept on the same slab as Hindi and Hollywood films.
The actor-filmmaker also added that if the new tax system is un-affordable, he has no other go but to quit cinema.
