Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan has received a death threat through an anonymous phone call.
Police said, the unidentified man on phone also spoke about the prime minister Narendra Modi during the conversation. He also warned her to face consequences if she extended support for the ban on selling animals in open markets for slaughter.
A complaint was registered with Virugambakkam police station and the police are tracing the caller.
Police protection has been given to her house and a patrol vehicle has also been stationed there.
Tamilisai Soundararajan on Wednesday challenged Opposition leader and DMK working president M.K. Stalin to eat beef in protest against cattle sale regulations notified by the Central government.
She was responding to Stalin’s comments on the cattle sale regulation and the attack on an IIT- Madras research scholar who protested by eating beef.
