Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have been chosen by the Andhra Pradesh government for the prestigious NTR National Film Award for the years 2014 and 2016 respectively.
The NTR Award was bestowed upon Kamal Haasan, K Raghavendar Rao and Rajinikanth in 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively. Directors SS Rajamouli, Trivikram Srinivas, Boyapati Srinivas won the BN Reddy Award.
Among the notable winners are also actors Naga Chaitanya and Allu Arjun. While Chaitanya won the award for the Best Supporting Actor for the 2014 film Manam, Arjun won the award for the Best Character Actor for the 2015 film Rudhramadevi.
Chiranjeevi and former Union Minister U. Krishnam Raju will be bestowed with the Raghupati Venkaiah Award.
A committee, headed by film star and MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, has selected the awardees for the three years.
Greeting Rajini, Kamal said, "Congratulations, Superstar.Rajinikanth for the NTR National award in 2016. Thank you Andhra for honouring me also, yet again. I am indebted to your continued support, which started early in my career. Kruthagnyathalu."
Rajini posted: "I convey my heartfelt thanks and happiness for the prestigious #NandiAwards granted to me 🙏🏻". He also thanked Kamal for his wishes.
