DMK to support Panneerselvam?

A high-level strategy committee of DMK on Monday unanimously decided not to support the O Panneerselvam-led faction if the Governor orders a floor test in the assembly to prove majority.

However, sources have it that if a situation arises in the Assembly to support Panneerselvam, a decision would be taken at that time.

"Tamil Nadu is facing a political emergency and there is no stablegovernment," the main opposition party in the state said in the resolution, adding "any delay in forming a stable government in place is against democracy."

It also alleged that administration in the state had come to a "standstill".

The committee also vested with working president M K Stalin and general secretary K Anbazhagan powers to decide about the future course of action in the event of the Governor calling for a floor test.

The meeting also passed resolutions seeking Centre's intervention for securing Presidential assent for exempting Tamil Nadu from NEET examination, allocation of central funds as compensation for the damage caused by cyclone 'Vardah' in December, and formation of Cauvery Management Board.
