Deepa Jayakumar joins OPS, vows to work together

After her meeting with Tamil Nadu caretaker Chief Minister O Panneerselvam at her aunt Jayalalithaa’s memorial on Tuesday night, Deepa Jayakumar has said that she is ready to work with Panneerselvam in the future.

She welcomed the Supreme Court verdict, setting aside AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala's acquittal by the Karnataka High Court in the Jayalalithaa disproportionate assets case.

"Panneerselvam and I would act as pair of hands of AIADMK," she said at the memorial.

“Now it is clear that those who indulged in corruption have been taken to task. I have always been saying that Sasikala could never be accepted because of the assets case,” she said.

Seven nights ago, Panneerselvam made a night visit to Marina Beach, where Jayalalithaa was buried and dispensed the claim that her spirit had appeared before him and urged him to resist the attempt by Sasikala to replace him as Chief Minister- he took office hours after her death.

On choosing ‘Edapaddi’ K. Palaniswami as AIADMK’s new Legislature Party leader, Deepa countered that Jayalalithaa had never endorsed Palaniswami for the top post.
