Sivaji memorial inaugurated by OPS at grand event

Actors and politicians on Sunday paid homage to late legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan, as Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam inaugurated a memorial in the actor’s honour.

The event was attended by the who is who of Tamil cinema, including superstar Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Nasser, Vishal and Karthi.

Fsheries minister D Jayakumar, information minister Kadambur Raju, Tamil culture minister Ma Foi K Pandiarajan and other top state government officials were also present.

A few days ago, the Opposition and the film industry had questioned the AIADMK on why Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami was not inaugurating the memorial.

Palaniswami later clarified he had prior commitments and had deputed Panneerselvam to lead the Sunday’s function, an announcement which made the industry happy.

In his address, Panneerselvam said, "The function is happening here today with the wishes of Amma (late chief minister J Jayalalithaa), as it was she who initiated the project and allocated Rs 2.80 crore for it. And I am very happy to inaugurate it, as I consider myself as part of his family."
