Karunanidhi presides over great grandson's wedding with Vikram's daughter

DMK supremo and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi presided over the wedding of his great grandson Manu Ranjith with actor Vikram's daughter Akshita at his Gopalapuram residence in Chennai on Monday.

Manu Ranjith is the son of C.K. Ranganathan, founder of FMCG firm Cavinkare and the man who pioneered the sachet revolution in India. Ranganathan's wife is Karunanidhi's granddaughter Thenmozhi, who is the daughter of his first son M K Muthu.

Manu Ranjith set up his own chain of bakeries in 2015. He intends to scale up his brand, CK’s Bakery, to 100 outlets by 2017. He is also a director at Cavinkare.

Karunanidhi's Gopalapuram residence was decorated with flowers, and a stage was erected on the premises.

Karunanidhi, who has not been keeping well for almost a year, was seen greeting guests. Karunanidhi's son M K Alagiri and Alagiri's son Dayanidhi were among those who participated in the wedding. Alagiri had not been seen in public for a long time.

The families of the couple have decided to throw a lavish wedding reception on Tuesday, October 31, at Mayor Ramanathan Hall, MRC Nagar.
