Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) – Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) have undertaken LPG network expansion exercise to strengthen LPG supply chain through advertising for appointment of more than 6000 new LPG distributorships primarily in rural areas across the country. This is in addition to the locations in which already selection has been made and process of commissioning distributorship is underway.
For the first time, OMCs have changed the selection process from physical to digital mode with the introduction of online receipt of application, processing and online draw. This initiative of the Ministry is part of promoting digital India movement and to bring more transparency and accountability in the selection process. Today, (27.10.2017) online draw for a selection of 26 new distributorships was successfully conducted in the State of Punjab. 26 applicants were selected out of 609 applicants.
In ensuing days, the online draw will also be conducted for selection of new distributorship in the remaining States across the country.
