Rajini mocks OPS, Kamal at Sivaji memorial function

Superstar Rajinikanth, who some months ago hinted about his impending entry into politics, on Sunday used a public function to subtly take on his potential political rival from the film industry, Kamal Haasan.

Sivaji Ganesan's losing an election in his own constituency shows one needs something beyond celebrity status in films to succeed in politics. "What that is only people know, I definitely don't know," he said.

Maybe Kamal Haasan knows, the actor continued. "Had I asked him two months ago, maybe he would have told me... Now if I insist that he tell me, he would say, 'Come with me, I will explain'."

In his tribute to Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth said that at a time when how one should act was predefined, Sivaji Ganesan created a revolution as far as all aspects of acting were concerned.

On OPS, he said, "Panneerselvam has always been a lucky man. It has been proved once again now. He has occupied an indelible place in the history by opening this memorial."

Rajini was obviously referring to Panneerselvam becoming the chief minister of Tamil Nadu thrice, twice after Jayalalithaa went to jail and once after her death last year.
