After crossing many hurdles, Vijay-starrer Mersal on Wednesday hit the screens across Tamil Nadu, with the actor's fans celebrating it in a big way.
The film was loaded by director Atlee with mass moments and Vijay fans are happy with the output. They were thrilled watcing three Vijays on screen, as the actor played a triple role for the first time.
According to sources, the film’s pre-release business is around 156 crore, which is a Non-Rajini record for a Tamil movie.
As the ticket rates in Tamil Nadu have been increased, there is a dry spell at the box office and theater owners feel that Mersal will be a big boost to the trade by attracting large crowd to the theaters.
Mersal is directed by Atlee and co-written by Atlee, K V Vijayendra Prasad, and S Ramana Girivasan (dialogue). The film stars Vijay in triple role, with Samantha, Nithya Menon, and Kajal Aggarwal playing the female-lead roles.
The background score and soundtrack are composed by A R Rahman, while the cinematography is done by G K Vishnu and editing is by Ruben. The Telugu dubbed version is titled as Adirindhi.
The film began its production in February 2017 with actors Sathyaraj, S J Surya and Vadivelu amongst others in supporting roles. It is also the 100th production of Thenandal Studios Limited.
