Fight intensifies at Producers Council

Election fever has gripped Tamil film industry, so to say, as the Tamil Film Producers Council election is nearing.

The Tamil Film Producers Council election will be held on April 2 at the Kandasamy Naidu College in Anna Nagar. Retired judge S Rajeshwaran will be the election officer.

TNFPC president Kalaipuli S Thanu, along with his supporters, raised slogans in front of Nadigar Sangam’s office on Monday, to protest against its general secretary actor Vishal for his unsavoury comments on producers.

“Actor Vishal has sullied the legacy of Tamil Film Producers’ Council, which has been led by great producers such as A.V. Meiyappa Chettiar, T.R. Sundaram, Nagi Reddy, Chinnappa Devar. He said that we only eat ‘bonda and bhajji’...we condemn this speech,” said Thanu.

Meanwhile, Vishal, who is contesting for the president post, said: “I’ve seen my dad begging to get lab clearance for one of his films, maybe that’s why I wanted to contest in this election. Our team will abolish the term ‘Struggling Producers’ in Kollywood”.

“Pension for TFPC members age above 60 will be increased from RS 5000 to 10000. Council will help for the higher education of the legal heirs of its members. Pongal (RS 5000) and Diwali (RS 10000) bonus will be credited one week in advance”, read the election manifesto of Vishal team.
