Kamal should stop dreaming: AIADMK

The AIADMK on Monday hit out at Kamal Haasan for stating in a televised interview that he was looking forward to a general election in Tamil Nadu.

Coming down heavily on him for his television interview on Sunday, in which he said Assembly elections should be conducted in the state, AIADMK spokesperson and former minister Vaigaichelvan said, "Kamal Haasan is an actor and he should limit dreaming to cinema only."

Vaigaichelvan asserted that the Edappadi K Palaniswami-led government would complete its term in office and continue to earn the trust of the marginalised, poor and downtrodden.

He added: "Kamal's dream that polls would be held in Tamil Nadu soon would never become a reality. Our government is serving the people and hence, there is no doubt that we will successfully continue our journey."

"This is Amma’s (Jayalalithaa’s) government. I would like to tell Kamal Haasan that this government will remain in power for the entire five-year tenure," he said.

"I would like to tell him that his dreams would not come true,” Vaigaichelvan told reporters in Chennai.
