Producers clear the air on 2.0 TV rights

While confirming that the satellite rights of Superstar Rajinikanth's 2.0 have been bagged by Zee TV for a whopping price, Lyca Productions have however issued a clarification.

Lyca Productions' creative head, Raju Mahalingam said, "The Rs. 110 crore deal is only for the film’s satellite rights."
He added: "We are in talks with Amazon Prime and Netflix for the film’s digital rights."

He also said while the satellite rights are usually sold outright, the rights for 2.0 have been sold only for 15 years. "The theatre rights are yet to be sold", Raju said.

The film is being directed by Shankar and music is by A R Rahman. Produced by Lyca, the film is slated to release on Deepavali in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

A sequel to 2010 Tamil blockbuster, 2.0 features Rajinikanth in dual roles — a scientist and a robot.

Also starring Akshay Kumar as the antagonist, apart from Sudhanshu Pandey and Adil Hussain, the film has been bankrolled by Lyca Productions on a budget of Rs 450 crore.
