Deepa Vs Madhusudhanan Vs Dinakaran in RK Nagar?

RK Nagar by-election has become the buzzword in political circles, soon after the Election Commission said on Wednesday that it would be held on April 12.

Deepa Jayakumar, niece of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister
J Jayalalithaa has reaffirmed that she would definitely contest the byelection to the R K Nagar Assembly seat.

According to sources, while former minister Madhusudhanan will contest there from the camp led by O Panneerselvam, AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran will also test waters from RK Nagar.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Ms Jayalalithaa on December five, and as per rules, the vacancy has to be filled within six months.

Jayalalithaa had held the seat twice by winning from it for the first time in June 2015 after her acquittal in the DA case by the Karnataka High Court and again during the Assembly elections in May last year.

Deepa on Wednesday said the group owing allegiance to V.K. Sasikala, the interim general secretary of AIADMK, was of the opinion that they could put up any candidate under the AIADMK symbol and people would vote. “The people will cast their vote only to the one they have decided is Amma’s candidate,” she said.
