Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami said stern action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb religious peace in the state.
While Deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam informed the state assembly that the government was exerting adequate pressure on the Centre over the Cauvery issue and cited the persistent protests by party MPs in Parliament to drive home its point.
Palaniswami was responding to the opposition DMK and Congress members who raised the issue of some Christian prayer homes being attacked in Madurai, in the state Assembly.
Both Palaniswamy and Panneerselvam charged at the opposition DMK for not not getting the final award of the Cauvery Tribunal notified, despite being in power at both the Centre and State during the Congress government as well as when they were in alliance with the BJP during their previous regime.
When opposition leader, Stalin and other members asked the government to file a case against the Centre for disrespecting the court order, Panneerselvam said, "We still have time to form the CMB. We will come to a decision after discussing it with everyone."
On its last day of the current session on Thursday, the Tamil Nadu Assembly witnessed heated exchanges between the treasury and opposition benches, with EPS and OPS giving replies to the issues raised by the DMK.
