Amid a total shutdown by the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) in protest against digital service providers, the shooting of actor Vijay’s untitled next venture with director A R Murugadoss, went ahead as planned in Victoria House in Chennai.
As the news spread in the industry and the media, it resulted in criticism of TFPC’s preferential treatment for actors.
In his statement, producer J Satish Kumar raised questions on TFPC’s partiality for Thalapathy 62 because the film has big names like Vijay, Murugadoss and Sun Pictures.
"Actor #Vijay ‘s shooting is happening now at Victoria Hall. Where is our unity? How can our council give spl permission? I strongly oppose this decision. Don’t split up," he said.
However, TFPC treasurer S.R. Prabhu said four films were given permission for valid reasons.
“We have already explained the reasons behind it. In the case of Vijay’s film, a majority of the crew members are from Andhra Pradesh and they have been staying in Chennai for the shoot. And since only a couple of days remain for the schedule to get over, they were allowed to shoot," he added.
