Nirmala Sitharaman in Chennai, first visit as Defence Minister

Nirmala Sitharaman is visiting Chennai today, for the first time after taking over as Defence Minister.



She will inaugurate a Mudra Promotion Camp to be held at Centenary Auditorium, Madras University Campus.



She will also deliver special address and distribute Mudra loans to the selected beneficiaries in the stage.



S P Velumani, State Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programmes, and D Jayakumar, Minister for Fisheries, Personnel and Administrative Reforms, are participating in this function and also delivering the special address.



Hans Raj Verma, IAS Additional Chief Secretary to Govt., Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department will deliver the welcome addres.



R Subramania Kumar, Chairman, State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), Chennai and Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, Indian Overseas Bank would propose vote of thanks.



Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) was launched in 2015 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development of Micro Units and refinancing agencies to provide formal access of financial facilities to non-corporates and small businesses ranging between Rs 50,000 to Rs 10 lakhs at different stages.
