Cyclone Vardah has re-emerged in Arabian Sea and is presently seen a low pressure area close to Lakshadweep. This will bring to Chennai and other parts, experts said.
"With this, we can expect good rains over Lakshadweep region, while scattered rains will continue over Coastal and South Karnataka including Bangalore, parts of Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh," sources said.
Regional Meteorological Department director S Balachandran said, "After resulting in rainfall and heavy wind activity in Chennai and its surrounding areas, Vardah finally made its landfall near Krishnagiri. After crossing the coast, it has subsequently weakened into a depression, and further into a low pressure".
"It has now moved towards the south of Karnataka and north of Kerala. This might bring rain to Tamil Nadu in the next three days", he said.
This is likely to intensify the flow of humid northeasterly winds over the region, which will bring rain and thundershowers over Tamil Nadu including Chennai on Friday. But the intensity of rains will be confined to light only.
