The general council of the DMK, which was put off earlier due to the ill-health of party president M Karunanidhi, will now be held on 4 January. Earlier, the meeting was slated to be held on 20 December.
DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan said that the General Council, originally slated on December 20 under its president M Karunanidhi, will now be held next month.
The General Council was earlier scheduled on December 20 amidst an increasing chorus from Stalin's supporters for his elevation.
"The meeting will begin at 9am, and all council members must participated in it without fail," said Anbzhagan.
The general council meeting, which was scheduled to be held on December 20, was postponed after Karunanidhi was admitted to Kauvery Hospital here on December 16 following throat and lung infections.
The DMK chief was discharged from the hospital on December 23 and was given rousing reception by party members.
