Today being December 30, the last day to exchange old notes demonetised by prime minister Narendra Modi, there prevails a last minute rush at banks.
Though some ATMs were closed, many machines were opened and there wasn't much crowd, say reports.
It was on the evening of 8 November that Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
His idea was to rid the country of black money, counterfeit currencies and to stop funding of terrorism
Meanwhile, DMK treasurer and leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu assembly M K Stalin has demanded that the Centre release a white paper on demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
"The white paper must explain how much black money has been found in the country and what happened to the economy after demonetisation. The central government must also take steps to release new currencies," Stalin said in a statement.
