Sasikala Vs Stalin: VKS slams MKS for Jallikattu comments

AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala has condemned DMK working president MK Stalin's comments on the Jallikattu issue.

In a statement, she accused the newly appointed working president of DMK of hiding facts, especially on the legal battles to lift the ban on Jallikattu.

“Stalin cannot hoodwink the present generation living in a communication era. If one just makes a Google search on the topic ‘reasons for banning Jallikattu’, there will be thousands of pages available to prove that this traditional sport was banned because of a notification including bulls in the list of performing animals, issued by the UPA regime led by the Congress and DMK,” she said.

Tracing the origin of the issue, she said there were many cases filed against Jallikattu since 2006 and the Supreme Court had banned the sport on May 7, 2014 and the AIADMK government had filed a review petition on May 19.

"Amma submitted a petition to PM Modi on August 8, 2015 where she mentioned that bulls should be removed from the show-display animals list. On December 22, the same year, she wrote another letter requesting an amendment to the law to conduct Jallikattu," said Sasikala.

Stalin in a political rally at Madurai on January 3 blamed AIADMK and Jayalalithaa for perusing it with the Center to conduct Jallikattu.
