Protesters at Marina refuse to withdraw agitation

Agitators at Marina today refused to withdraw their protest, saying that the ordinance by the Tamil Nadu government was just a temporary move.

They said they want a permanent solution and their protest will continue till that.

Pressure mounted on the government to hold the event as lakhs of students and youths, for the first ever in the history of Tamil Nadu, gathered in an unprecedented scale at Marina beach front
since Tuesday demanding lifting the ban on Jallikattu and a ban on
PETA.

But the students, though welcomed the Ordinance, refused to withdraw their agitation until and otherwise the bulls jump out into the ring and a permanent solution found by denotifying bulls from the list of performing animals.

Chief minister O Panneerselvam said that the act will be passed in the coming Assembly session to be held on January 23.
