Four 100-bed hospitals to be set up in TN: Union minister

Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya has said four 100-bed hospitals, each estimated to cost Rs 100 crore, would be set up in Tamil Nadu under the Employees State Insurance Corporation scheme.

Speaking to reporters in the city, hesaid, "The ministry has increased the coverage of the minimum wage limit from Rs 15,000 to Rs 21,000 so that there is an increase in enrolment of new workers. For Tamil Nadu, we are going to sanction four 100-bed hospitals."

Dattatreya said that Central Government is committed to inclusive growth where everyone, be it youth, women, rural poor, or minority backward class, should be made a stake holder and partner.

The Minister said that flagship programmes Make in India, Skilled India, Digital India have made the world to look at India positively. Indian Labour market is becoming more vibrant and sought after globally.

Speaking at the Regional Conference of Labour Ministers of Southern States, Dattatreya said: "Cooperative federalism is a key vehicle to achieve rapid development in India. Strong states are the foundation of a strong India."

He added the progress of a country depended on the progress of the states as state governments and the Centre were co-partners in moving forward the agenda of economic development.
