The Tamil Nadu government has announced that the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) project has been successfully implemented in all the 1913 FIR registering police stations/units of the state police.
People can now register their complaint online, view vehicle details online, sharing road accident documents, download mobile app besides using e-seva centers (common service centers) to use these facilities by paying a nominal charge.
Those without access to the internet can now approach common service centres (CSC) run by the state government to register hassle-free police complaints online by paying Rs 20 to the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB).
"He/she can also track the status of the complaint on the website. An SMS is sent to the complainant on completion of enquiry on the online complaint giving information about nature of disposal," a release said.
The app (TN police citizen service) developed by the National Information Centre (NIC) aims to make it more accessible for the citizens to file a complaint. Not only can the public can register a complaint online they can also check the status of the online complaint, FIR, CSR and vehicle status.
The public can register their complaint through the website http://eservices.tnpolice.gov.in. FIRs registered in any police station can be viewed and downloaded by anyone free of cost effective from November 15, 2016, except for FIRs of sensitive cases.
