MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Tuesday called on DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi at the latter's residence in Chennai and enquired about the health of the nonagenarian leader.
DMK working president M. K. Stalin and principal secretary K. Duraimurugan welcomed him at the Gopalapuram residence.
Vaiko is meeting Stalin after two years, since they met in 2015 at Mamallapuram, in a marriage function in Karunanidhi's family.
The MDMK leader enquired about Karunanidhi's health and the medication he was on. Vaiko was in the DMK before he parted ways over two decades ago from that party following differences with Karunanidhi.
Vaiko told the mediapersons that he would attend the platinum jubilee function of DMK organ ‘Murasoli’ on September 5, further indicating that the two parties could further move towards an alliance.
Vaiko, who was with the DMK for a long time and split with the party in the early nineties, said Karunanidhi has a good memory and expressed confidence that he would get back to normal health and speak in his "magnetic voice".
