TN budget to be presented on March 16

The government led by chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami will present its first budget on March 16. This will also be the first budget of finance minister D Jayakumar.

"The Hon. Speaker has summoned the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly to meet at 10.30 A.M. on Thursday, the 16th March, 2017 in the Assembly Chamber, Secretariat, Chennai-600009 in exercise of the powers vested in him under Rule 26(1) of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Rules," said an official statement.

It added: "Under Rule 181(1) of the Tamil Nadu Legislative

Assembly Rules, Hon. the Governor has appointed, Thursday, the 16th March, 2017 as the date for presentation of Budget for the year 2017-2018, and Thursday, the 23rd March, 2017 as the date for presentation of Vote on Account for the year 2017-2018 to the Legislative Assembly."

The Budget for the year 2017-2018 will be presented to the Assembly at 10.30 A.M. on Thursday, the 16th March, 2017.

Under Rule 189 (1) of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Rules, Hon. the Governor has appointed Thursday, the 23rd March, 2017 as the date of presentation of the Final Supplementary Estimates for the year 2016-2017 to the Legislative Assembly.
