Mahima Nambiyar plays as a nurse in IRAVUKKU AAYIRAM KANGAL

As soon as the Audience hears the name Arulnithi, one term strikes their mind immediately, and it is simply the ‘VERSATILITY’. All his movies will be different from one another and it won’t even have the shadow of his previous movies. The most realistic actor Arulnithi has now teamed up with debutante Mu Maran for a one night crime story – Iravukku Aayiram Kangal. Produced by G Dillibabu of ‘Axess Film Factory’, IRAVUKKU AAYIRAM KANGAL has Mahima Nambiyar in the female lead and it is well backed up by the Cinematographer Aravind Singh and the Music Director Vishal Chandrasekar.

“Arulnithi sir is a great performing artist, and hence we were in the search of a Heroine who could do justice and dedicate herself to the character. Finally our search ends with the most promising actress Mahima Nambiyar. She plays as a nurse in this film and the plot of the story mainly revolves around our Hero and Heroine. We are planning to go on floors from March 31st…” reveals Mu Maran, the Director of IRAVUKKU AAYIRAM KANGAL.

Ilayaraja doesn't have rights to stop SPB: Popular music label founder

Madhav Das, founder of popular music label Magnasound, has saiid music composer Ilayaraja does not have rights to ask singer SP Balasubrahmanyam not to sing his songs.

In a video statement, he said, "there is a news item which said that music composer Ilayaraja has sent a notice to singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, asking him not to sing the songs composed by him, while on a concert tour in the United States. Ilayaraja doesn't have the rights to do this."

Stating that there are others too who can claim credits for the song, he said if at all someone has to raise an issue, it has to be the producer of a particular movie.

"He is the one who has paid for it. He hired the composer, he hired the director, he hired the actor and he hired everyone," he said.

He said the producer might have sold the rights to a music label or he might have allowed Ilayaraja to retain it. "In that case, Ilayaraja can claim ownership. But even in that case, Ilayaraja can only ask for royalty. He can not ask SPB not to sing his songs. Because, there are so many others involved in the making of a song. For instance, the song's lyricist may want SPB to sing it."

EC to decide fate of Sasikala, Panneerselvam today

The Election Commission will decide today which faction of the AIADMK will get its poll symbol two leaves. It will also decide whether the appointment of VK Sasikala as the party's general secretary is valid or not.

The Commission has called both the Sasikala and the O Panneerselvam factions for a hearing today to decide on the symbol and other issues.

"We have asked representatives/lawyers of both the camps to be present on Wednesday and give their arguments on the appointment of Sasikala as general secretary and also on the issue of two leaves symbol for R K Nagar constituency. We have clubbed the representations made by MPs and MLAs so that they could be heard on Wednesday," a senior EC official was quoted as saying.

Both the camps are upbeat. "The truth is with us. Party members, people and above all the party bylaws are with us. We will definitely win on both the issues," AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP V Maitreyan said.

AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran said, "we will surely win. Because 95 per cent of the members, office-bearers and MLAs are with us."

The poll panel may choose to freeze the symbol instead of authorising either camp to use it, reports said.

The Panneerselvam-led faction has told the EC that Sasikala's elevation as General Secretary of the AIADMK is invalid.

The long-time aide of Jayalalithaa, now an inmate in a Bengaluru prison after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case in February, has defended her appointment in a 70-page document.

Sushma meets TN fishermen, Jaitley met farmers

Top guns of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in the Centre gave patient listening to the woes of Tamil Nadu farmers and fishermen on Tuesday.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday assured a delegation of fishermen from Tamil Nadu that India will continue to work for the release of all Indian boats and fishermen in Sri Lankan custody.

Reports said Sushma Swaraj conveyed to the fishermen that the government's efforts in the last two years had earlier led to the release of all the boats and fishermen in Sri Lankan custody.

"She assured that the government would remain closely engaged with the Sri Lankan government to secure the release of all Indian boats and fishermen currently in Sri Lankan custody," reports said, quoting sources.

Meanwhile, representatives of Tamil Nadu farmers protesting at Jantar Mantar met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday and put forth their demands.

The farmers said they would continue to their dharna till they meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union ministers for Agriculture and Water Resources.

Probe complaint against Kamal, Court tells cops

A Tirunelveli court on Tuesday directed police to probe a complaint against popular actor Kamal Haasan for allegedly making insulting statement about Hindu epic Mahabharata.

Hindu Munani Katchi also took serious objection to the remarks of Kamal Haasan that Indians were giving lot of respect to a book (Mahabharata) that highlighted the fact that a woman was pawned away in gambling.

The actor’s words sparked off intense reaction with the Hindu Munani Katchi lodging a complaint against him with the Chennai city police commissioner. The complaint was filed on March 15.

The actor allegedly made the remarks during a March 12 interview to a private Tamil television channel.

Meanwhile, the Judicial Magistrate in Valliyur, Senthil Kumar, directed police to investigate the complaint by Athinathasundaram, president of the city-based Anju Grama traders association.

Athinathasundaram is also secretary of the Narumboonathar temple devotees federation.

Kamal Hassan said in the interview, "The country reads about the book in which a woman (Draupadi) was used as a pawn and was gambled away."

The HMK in its complaint claimed that the remarks of the actor may incite enmity between groups and cause disturbance to public tranquillity. The HMK called Haasan an anti-Hindu and even questioned if he had any guts to speak against Bible or Quran in the same way.

Gangai Amaran meets Rajini, seeks support

Eminent music composer Gangai Amaran, who is the BJP's candidate in the prestigious RK Nagar bypoll, called on superstar Rajinikanth on Tuesday sparking some speculation in Tamil Nadu's political circles.

The meeting with Rajini is all the more special as Gangai Amaran is the Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate for the Tamil Nadu Assembly constituency seat left vacant after the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

And that's precisely what Gangai Amaran, the Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate for the R.K. Nagar by-poll and the brother of the legendary composer Ilayaraja, said happened today.

Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, who is Gangai Amaran’s son tweeted a picture of Rajini with the music composer and said that the star had wished his father “for his political victory”.

Ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi visited Rajinikanth at his residence in Chennai. The photo opportunity with the superstar was an attempt to boost the BJP’s performance in Tamil Nadu ahead of the polls.

Gangai Amaran, brother of ace music director Ilay Raja, has composed hit numbers for many Tamil films, and political observers here are more inclined to believe Rajini meeting him was more due to non-political.
