All 130 tourists from TN safe in J&K: Top cop

Jammu & Kashmir IG Swayam Praksh Pani has said 135 Tamil Nadu tourists who have visited J&K are safe and the situation is under control.

"We are now working for their safety," he said, speaking to a Tamil television channel.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister K Palaniswami on Tuesday spoke to his counterpart Mehbooba Mufti over the phone and sought her help for the safe return of 130 tourists from his state.

Also, he announced a solatium of Rs 300,000 to the family of R Thirumaniselvam who died after being attacked with stones in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, Palaniswami expressed grief over the Monday death. Meanwhile, as  the coffin of his 22-year old deceased son Thirumani Selvan arrived in an Indigo Airlines Flight from Delhi on Tuesday evening, Rajavel Selvan recollected the unfortunate incident that costed him his son's life on Jammu Kashmir's Srinagar- Gulmarg road.

He said immersed in music, Selvan didn’t hear his (father) shout during the stone pelting incident during violence in the valley. Meanwhile, friends and neighbours hailed Thirumani as a nice person with helping nature.
