BJP trying to destabilise AIADMK govt, no need to replace OPS: Natarajan

AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala's husband M Natarajan has said the government under O Panneerselvam was performing well and there was no need to replace him as of now.

Speaking at a Pongal function in Thanjavur, he accused "some sections" in the BJP of trying to split the AIADMK and get the state government dismissed.

"My wife carried Jayalalithaa on her shoulder for over 30 years. It was our family that protected Jayalalithaa after the death of former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran," he said.

Natarajan added: "We have made sacrifices and stood by her till the end. But we are accused of indulging in family politics. Why shouldn’t we claim credit for safeguarding the AIADMK?"

"As Chief Minister, O Panneerselvam is carrying forward the good governance of AIADMK. We (the party) have no necessity or rush to change the leadership," said Natarajan, when asked about the probabilities of Sasikala becoming the next chief minister.

"Such issues can be discussed only by the party's high command and the party representatives elected to State Assembly," he said.

He alleged that saffron forces were trying to push the Aryan-Dravidian divide and insisted that such designs will not be possible.
