RK Nagar: All polling booths to be treated as sensitive

All the 256 polling booths in RK Nagar constituency - where a by-election will be held on April 12 - would be treated as sensitive as directed by Election Commission of India.

This was revealed by district election officer (DEO) and Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner D Karthikeyan to the media on Monday.

"Stringent policing and monitoring of poll-related activities will be extended to all 256 booths," Karthikeyan said at a press conference. The ECI had earlier identified only 50 booths as sensitive.

Meanwhile, cntinuing with its transferring spree ahead of RK Nagar by-poll, the Election Commission on Monday ordered shifting of four assistant commissioners of police working in and around the constituency.

Also, taking exception to the continued use of AIADMK's original two leave symbol by the V K Sasikala faction, the Election Commission on Monday directed it to remove it from its website and all social media accounts.

"It has come to our knowledge that the frozen symbol is being used by your party on Facebook, Twitter and other social media. We want your reply on or before 11am on April 6. Use of the two leaves symbol tantamount to violation of Election Commission rules," warned the EC in a communique to Sasikala and Dhinakaran.
