Tamil Film Producers Council president Vishal on Wednesday said the film industry would go on an indefinite strike from May 30 if the central and the state governments did not take steps to curb piracy.
He said that they have requested both Central and State Governments to completely eradicate piracy with the help of cyber crime and Internet Service Providers.
Vishal said that the film industry needs a permanent solution and if their requests are not met, Tamil Film Producers will go on a strike from May 30.
The TNFPC have decided to send requests to the State and Central Government regarding the piracy issues and also to raise the cap on ticket prices.
"If piracy is not curbed, it will eat away the film industry, which is giving employment to thousands," he added. A popular actor, Vishal was recently elected to the top post of the producers' council. He won the polls with a promise to end piracy.
