IT raids at Vijayabaskar, Sarathkumar's houses

Seuths of Income Tax Department are conducting raids in multiple places, including those linked to state health minister Dr Vijayabhaskar and actor Sarath Kumar.

Additional Director of Income Tax Investigation Jayaraghavan told AIR News, in Chennai 20 places belonging to the minister and the other persons, including actor Sarathkumar, the Vice-Chancelor of the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University Dr Geetalakshmi and an AIADMK leader Chitlapakkam Rajendran are being searched.

Raids were also launched at a blue metal crushing unit and a college belonging to the minister in Pudukottai district.

Sources said the raids were being carried out simultaneously at the many places from 7 a.m.

The raids come a day after the income tax department began crackdown on suspected illegal money hoarders after the deadline on PMGKY ended on March 31.
